Allahabad: The Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD) has asked all technical institutions to organizewelcome session for freshers in the presence of senior students.
The decision has been taken by the ministry after the ragging incident came into light at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A).
Moving towards this new initiative the MHRD has recently told Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) to hold welcome session for freshers.
"The ministry has sent an official communique in this regard directing us to organize department wise programmes for freshers," said A. K Mishra, dean, planning, development and administration. y guidelines MNNIT will organize the welcome session for both juniors and seniors.
The institute has already sanctioned a budget of Rs.1.50 to 2 lakh to organize such sessions.
