ICSE schools need not to follow state rule

Mumbai: The State Government of Maharashtra told the Bombay High Court that schools affiliated to ICSE are not required to follow the code framed by the government for secondary school (SS) in state.

Students studying in ICSE schools can be promoted to next class if they have qualified five out of seven subjects except English.

This was announced by Government after a petition filed by student of GD Somani Memorial School after he was expelled for failing in mathematics.

All recognised schools (secondary and higher secondary) in Maharashtra imparting general education are governed by SS code.

GD Somani Memorial School is an ICSE affiliated school governed by its regulations.
